Hear contemporary poets perform spoken word and discuss the Psalms as a starting point for exploring exile, displacement, longing and resilience. Their conversation connects experiences of alienation and loss with transformation, imagination and cross-cultural understanding, as part of Day of Psalms.
Exiled Writers Ink brings its Lit Café to Oxford for a poetry performance and discussion led by a group of poets including Leo Boix, Amir Darwish, Jennifer Langer and TK Sebastian. The event uses the Psalms as a starting point for exploring exile, displacement, longing and resilience through spoken word and literary discussion.
The session looks at how poetry can express experiences of alienation and loss, while also opening up ideas of transformation, imagination and cross-cultural understanding. It offers an accessible chance to hear contemporary poets reflect on these themes in conversation with one another and with the wider cultural and spiritual significance of the Psalms.
Exiled Writers Ink is an organisation that supports the creative expression of refugees and migrants and promotes cross-cultural dialogue through performance, workshops, mentoring, translation, publishing and theatre. This event forms part of Day of Psalms, a wider programme celebrating the Psalms as songs of exile, diaspora and devotion.
