Explore how the Korean Wave travelled worldwide through music, language, technology, fandom and communities - and what AI could change as a new generation creates and consumes culture. Professors Jieun Kiaer and Kim Hyungsuk discuss the future of K-Culture, with live piano woven through the conversation.

Professor Jieun Kiaer and Professor Kim Hyungsuk explore the extraordinary rise of Hallyu, or the Korean Wave, and what it can tell us about culture, creativity and human connection in a world increasingly shaped by AI. The talk looks beyond K-pop and screen culture to consider the mix of music, language, technology, fandom and communities that has carried K-Culture around the world.

The speakers also reflect on what may happen next as a new generation of AI natives becomes both creators and consumers of culture. With live piano woven through the conversation, the event invites audiences to consider how AI might change the ways music and culture are created, translated and shared across borders.

It forms part of K-Flow: Riding the Korean Wave, a day-long celebration of Korean culture.
