The Level 3 Pharmacy Technician apprenticeship from Scope Training (Scope Healthcare) prepares learners with clinical knowledge, practical skills and professional competencies required to practise as pharmacy technicians. Trainees will be involved in the supply, preparation and assembly of medicinal products and take responsibility for ordering, receiving, storing and returning stock while working under supervision of pharmacists or registered pharmacy technicians.
The programme lasts 24 months and is delivered online alongside workplace-based training. Employers must provide workplace supervision, allow participation in stock management and dispensing, and arrange off-the-job training equivalent to approximately 690-760 hours across the apprenticeship.
Apprentices must hold a contract of employment for a minimum of 21 hours per week and work alongside a pharmacy registrant for at least 14 hours per week.
On successful completion apprentices are awarded a Level 3 pharmacy technician GPHC approved qualification enabling them to work in a pharmacy. Scope Training also offers coaching and mentoring as part of the apprenticeship and delivers sector-specific industry knowledge to support progression.

Location
- Must have a right to work and abode in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years. Additional eligibility rules apply to EEA nationals and non-UK nationals
- Must be aged 16 years old or above
- Must hold a contract of employment for minimum of 21 hours a week
- Must work under the supervision of a registered healthcare professional, pharmacist or pharmacy technician for the duration of the apprenticeship
- Must work alongside a pharmacy registrant for a minimum of 14 hours per week
- Must meet the pre-screening criteria in relation to: health and character, current ability and current level of maths, English and science knowledge
- Cannot be in full time education or enrolled onto another government funded programme
- Cannot hold an equivalent qualification at the same level
- Cannot hold a level 4 qualification or above, unless the qualification is materially different from the apprenticeship (queries assessed individually)
