Sort donated stock, welcome customers and create shop-floor displays at a charity shop in Ashington, supporting disabled people with complex needs. You’ll get full training and ongoing support, learn till skills and have reasonable expenses reimbursed.
Sense is looking for a Shop Volunteer for its Ashington Shop in Northumberland. The role sits within Sense’s wider mission to support disabled people with complex needs, helping create a more inclusive world through local shops and community support.
As a volunteer, you could be welcoming and assisting customers, receiving donated items, sorting and preparing stock, creating attractive displays, keeping the shop floor clean and tidy, and talking to customers about Sense’s work. The charity says volunteers are valued members of the team and that there is a friendly, supportive atmosphere in the shop.
The role also offers opportunities to build skills through training, including becoming a till user, and potentially progressing to a Key Volunteer role with added responsibility for opening, running and closing the shop when needed. Volunteers receive full training, ongoing support, a reference for future applications, support from Mental Health First Aiders if required, and reimbursement of reasonable expenses.
1 December 2026
Reasonable volunteer expenses reimbursed in line with Sense’s volunteer expenses policy.
No fee is stated to take part.
