Tackle a real-world Sheffield city-region challenge through engineering design, digital innovation, software development and cybersecurity sessions. Explore university-level subjects in interactive labs and workshops, then get a taste of racing with a Formula Student experience.
This non-residential summer course gives students an insight into engineering, built environment and computing at Sheffield Hallam University. It has been created in partnership with the School of Engineering & Built Environment and the School of Computing, and is designed to help participants develop technical knowledge and problem-solving skills used across engineering, construction and computing careers.
Across the programme, students take part in a series of bespoke sessions including lectures, interactive labs, masterclasses and workshops. They also work on a real-world challenge facing the Sheffield city region, with themes such as infrastructure, housing, transport and sustainability.
Activities include engineering design challenges, a Formula Student racing experience, digital innovation, software development and cybersecurity, giving participants a practical taste of different university-level subjects and career paths.
The course is aimed at students who are thinking about university but are still deciding which degree route is right for them. It is a mixed course for 30 students and takes place on campus, with participants expected to travel to Sheffield Hallam University each day.
