Apply NowWant to qualify as a solicitor without university? Join Shoosmiths' six-year Solicitor Apprenticeship to work on real legal cases, build professional skills, and earn while you learn - four days in firm, one day studying, fast-track your legal career.
Shoosmiths' Solicitor Apprenticeship is a six-year programme that provides an alternative route to qualifying as a solicitor without attending university. Apprentices spend around 80% of their time (four days a week) working at Shoosmiths on real legal work and 20% (one day a week) studying with a training provider, completing modules that align with a qualifying law degree and vocational practice areas.
Throughout the apprenticeship you will complete work-based learning to meet the SRA competence statement, build a portfolio of workplace evidence, sit examinations during the programme and pass the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) to qualify. You will study modules such as Introduction to Practice, English Legal Systems & Research, Contract Law, Public Law, Criminal Law, Tort Law, Land Law, Equity & Trusts and vocational practice modules including Business Law and Practice, Property, Litigation and Wills.
Apprentices receive support from a dedicated line manager, a workplace buddy, a Student Manager and a Personal Tutor from the training provider. The recruitment process includes an online application, a strengths-based assessment and an in-person assessment centre.
The programme is aimed at those seeking a vocational route into law, typically final-year school leavers completing A-Levels.
