Complete your Duke of Edinburgh volunteering section through activities supporting patients, visitors, staff and the wider community. Under-16s can create positive-message cards or artwork, or fundraise for SaTH Charity; from 16, you can apply for on-site roles, with staff support and training.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. The volunteering section is designed to help young people build confidence, develop employability skills and gain meaningful experience while supporting patients, visitors, staff and the wider community.
A range of volunteering opportunities is available to suit different ages and circumstances. Young people under 16 can complete their volunteering section through off-site activities such as making cards, letters or artwork with positive messages, or by taking part in fundraising for SaTH Charity through their school, college or community group.
Participants aged 16 and over can access on-site volunteering roles across the Trust, with some roles limited to those aged 18 and over because of the nature of the work.
Volunteers are supported throughout their journey by a designated member of staff. On-site volunteers must complete the Trust’s recruitment process, any required checks, and volunteer training and induction.
The overall aim is to help participants complete their Duke of Edinburgh volunteering section while making a positive difference to local NHS services.
