Spend around one hour a week having supportive phone conversations with visually impaired people matched to you through shared interests. Calls are confidential, and no telephone numbers are exchanged; the organisation connects you both. Training and ongoing support are provided.

This volunteer role is for a telephone befriender who can spare around one hour a week to support visually impaired people who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation. Befrienders are matched with clients through Sightline based on shared interests, helping to create friendly and supportive conversations over the phone.

Calls are confidential and no telephone numbers are exchanged, as Sightline connects the befriender and client. The role is based from home or wherever the volunteer chooses, making it flexible and suitable for people who want to give their time in a simple but meaningful way.

Volunteers should be confident using a telephone and able to communicate well. The organisation is looking for someone who is empathetic, friendly, caring, reliable and a good listener. Training and ongoing support are provided, along with policies and checks in place to help the role run safely.
