Silver Arts Award is a Level 2 qualification that combines an artistic challenge with arts leadership. Participants create a portfolio in a chosen format to provide evidence for the award's two units: Arts practice and pathways, and Arts leadership.
The award develops practical creativity as well as reviewing, research and project-management skills. Unit 1 focuses on planning and delivering an arts challenge, reviewing events and researching arts careers.
Unit 2 focuses on arts leadership, including planning and delivering a project, working with others and reviewing leadership skills. Successful completion of both units and the portfolio awards the Silver Arts Award.
The award is designed for 14 to 16 year olds but is open to anyone aged 11 to 25. It typically requires 95 hours total qualification time (60 guided learning hours plus 35 independent learning hours). Organisations wishing to offer Silver should complete centre registration and adviser training via the Arts Award centre portal.
Level 2 qualification (Regulated Qualifications Framework, RQF).
