Want to explore art history abroad? Apply for the Sir Trenchard Cox Scholarship to win a funded place on a two-week summer course (worth £4,995): explore galleries, build research skills and connect with experts. Apply by 22 March 2026.

Deadline in 82 daysPrize: 2-week Summer Course valued at A34,995 (includes accommodation, travel during the course, entrance tickets and tuition). No cash alternative.

The Sir Trenchard Cox Scholarship, run by Art History Abroad, awards one student a place on a 2-week Summer Course (valued at A34,995 in 2025). The prize is intended to encourage students - including those without a scholarly background in art history - to take part in AHA courses.

The award may be applied to other AHA courses within one year; any additional balance for longer courses must be paid by the winner.

To apply, write two anonymous 400-word reasoned descriptions: one on an artwork you love and one on an artwork you loathe. Include one image (or a drawing no larger than A4) per essay and submit both essays as a single anonymous PDF to the email address provided by AHA.

Adjudicators will short-list and re-mark essays; the final decision is made by AHA tutors.

The scholarship covers the course fee and on-course accommodation and travel, but winners must cover daily meals and spending (estimated at A345 per day). Flights and travel insurance are not covered. Runner-up prizes are also awarded; if the winner cannot accept the place the benefit may be extended to the runner-up.
