Join Harrow CoderDojo as a volunteer and support young people aged 7-17 as they learn to code, build digital skills, and create their own projects. Volunteers help learners explore activities such as Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, robotics, and electronics, while encouraging problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and confidence.
This is a flexible volunteering role, typically requiring 1-2 hours per month. Sessions usually run once or twice a month on weekends or early evenings, with extra help especially valued during term-time project phases and showcase events.
No teaching experience is required. The role is well suited to people who are enthusiastic about coding and digital making, communicate in a friendly and patient way, and are willing to support setup, resources, and admin tasks.
Training is provided, and volunteers may need to complete a DBS or equivalent background check.
Location
- Interest in coding, technology, or digital making
- Friendly and encouraging communication style
- DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Comfortable using or learning Scratch, micro: bit, Raspberry Pi, Python, HTML/CSS
- Strong communication, patience, and the ability to support learners
- Reliable and consistent attendance at sessions
- Understanding of online safety and safeguarding protocols
- Willingness to assist with setup, resources, and administrative support
- Commitment to complete required volunteer training modules
- Prepared to undergo a DBS or local background check if necessary
- Suitable for under 18s
Free volunteer role. Expenses are reimbursed.
