Slaughter and May
Apply NowWant to become a commercial lawyer without university? Join Slaughter and May’s six-year Solicitor Apprenticeship to rotate through top practice areas, do real legal work, build marketable skills and fast-track your career in law.
Slaughter and May's six-year Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme is designed for bright, motivated school leavers who have not yet completed an undergraduate degree and are interested in a career in commercial law. Apprentices rotate annually through a range of practice areas (for example Corporate and M&A, Financing, Competition, Disputes and Investigations, Financial Regulation, Pensions, Employment, Real Estate, Technology and Tax) and are involved in substantive legal work such as research, drafting and attending meetings while being supervised by experienced lawyers.
You will study one day per week at BPP University towards an undergraduate law degree and later prepare for the SQE. The programme includes trainee-style rotations in later years, possible UK and international secondments, regular progress reviews each academic term, mentoring, a continuity partner, a trainee buddy and access to a dedicated HR adviser and skills coach.
Apprentices receive training in commercial awareness, professional skills and behaviours through in-person workshops and online study.
Applications for the 2026 intake are open; successful applicants will undertake a situational judgement test and a multi-stage interview process in the London office (written exercise, interviews with lawyers, office tour and HR interview). Reasonable travel expenses for interviews will be reimbursed and can be provided in advance if needed.
