Spend five days in a clinical or non-clinical setting, getting hands-on experience of life in a mental health trust. Learn about daily duties and essential skills, work on a project, and get guidance with CV writing and employability skills.
South London and Maudsley NHS Trust offers five-day work experience placements for local young people who are interested in NHS careers. Placements take place in either clinical or non-clinical settings and are designed to give an early insight into the wide range of roles across a mental health trust.
Participants can expect hands-on experience in the workplace, learning about day-to-day duties, essential skills and the demands of working in healthcare. The placement also includes the chance to work on a project, helping students build confidence and understand what a future role in the NHS might involve.
The programme is aimed at helping young people explore whether healthcare is the right path for them. It also supports future job applications by offering guidance with CV writing and broader employability skills.
The Trust particularly welcomes applications from local communities and underrepresented groups.
