Explore people-focused services, trades and practical work, business and office roles, digital and data, planning and environment, creative communications, and education and youth services in an unpaid placement with a large public sector organisation. Build teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills while meeting experienced professionals.
South Tyneside Council offers unpaid work experience placements for schools and colleges, giving young people a hands-on introduction to a modern public sector organisation. The scheme is designed to help students build confidence, gain insight into the world of work and understand how a large council supports local communities.
Participants can explore a wide range of roles, including people-focused services, trades and practical work, business and office roles, digital and data, planning and environment, creative communications, and education and youth services. It is a chance to try something new, meet experienced professionals and develop the teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills that employers value.
The placements are intended to be supportive from application through to the end of the experience. Applicants must be South Tyneside residents and should apply online with a short personal statement. Places are limited, so early applications are encouraged, and the council may not be able to offer every applicant a place.
