Explore how humans acquire language in an online session led by an MA Applied Linguistics student, and get a glimpse of university-level study. Pause the video when prompted to try its interactive sections, whether you watch at school or at home.
This short online taster session explores language acquisition through the topic ‘Speaking Human’. Charlie Rothwell, studying MA Applied Linguistics, presents the session and gives Year 12 pupils a glimpse of how language is studied at a more advanced level.
The session is part of a series of bite-sized online resources created by UCL students. It can be watched at school or at home, and teachers can also use it during form time. Some interactive sections may require the video to be paused when the presenter prompts it.
