This Level 4 Sports Coach apprenticeship with CO SSC LTD (SportsCool) combines extensive on-the-job coaching experience with formal off-the-job training delivered by SCL Education & Training Limited. You will work across lunch clubs, after-school programmes and curriculum sessions at primary schools in Wakefield, Barnsley and surrounding areas, delivering safe, inclusive and development-focused coaching.
The role includes weekly off-the-job study alongside workplace learning and professional development. The training covers coaching philosophy, session design, athlete profiling, safeguarding, behaviour management, performance analysis and sector-relevant legal and ethical practice.
The apprenticeship is intended to develop high-quality coaching practice across community, school and high-performance contexts.
Applicants must hold GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 4 (or equivalent), be physically fit for a hands-on role, have relevant coaching or playing experience, and be able to drive. The apprenticeship starts 10 December 2025, is 1 year 6 months in duration, and offers a first-year wage of £6,281.
