Fancy creating movie magic? Join a three-day, hands-on workshop in Bloomsbury to learn silicone prosthetics, painting and safe screen application-build practical SFX skills, boost your portfolio and connect with industry tutors. Apply by 15 February 2026.

Deadline in 47 days

This three-day practical workshop covers the foundations of prosthetic makeup for film and television, with a focus on applying silicone prosthetics. Participants will learn what prosthetics are, how they are used in makeup for screen work, and the core techniques required to paint and apply simple silicone prosthetics safely and effectively in a film context.

Sessions run daily from 10:00 to approximately 16:00 at Cockpit Arts, Bloomsbury. The course includes hands-on practice and demonstrations led by industry tutor Kiera Mayhew, who has worked as a prosthetic makeup artist on productions for Marvel, Disney, Netflix, BBC and Miramax.

The workshop may use real medical imagery and create blood/gore prosthetic looks, and may not be suitable for those who are particularly squeamish.

Places are limited to 16 participants. The workshop is fully funded by sponsors and is aimed at 16-19 year olds with an interest in creative, hands-on careers. Applicants must be able to attend all days and should demonstrate enthusiasm and manual dexterity in their application.
