Clyde & Co's SS2526 Solicitor Apprenticeship (Marine) is a six-year apprenticeship based in the Marine team at the firm's Guildford office. It offers an alternative route to qualify as a solicitor without studying full-time at university and places apprentices in day-to-day legal work supporting marine clients including insurers, shipowners, charterers, salvors, port authorities and related sectors.
The programme is structured as approximately 80% on-the-job learning and 20% off-the-job study, with one day per week out of the office for studies. Over the six years apprentices will undertake online learning, live webinars and face-to-face skills sessions and will graduate with an LLB (Hons) awarded by the University of Law and complete the SQE assessments.
Applicants should be achieving or on track for AAB at A-Level (or equivalent) and have 7 GCSEs at grade 6/B including Maths and English; university graduates are not eligible. The recruitment process includes an online application, online assessments (critical reasoning and strengths-based assessment), a pre-recorded video interview, and an in-person assessment centre.
Reasonable adjustments to the process are available on request.
Clyde & Co provide a range of support including a buddy, dedicated supervisor, University of Law skills coach and tutor, induction and ongoing internal training. The firm recommends attending Marine Guildford insight events before applying so applicants understand the role and assessment process.
LLB (Hons) from University of Law and completion of SQE 1, SQE 2 and SQE Plus
