Curious about a career in commercial law? Join A&O Shearman's Step into Law scheme to build real skills, get hands-on application and interview coaching, and connect with mentors in small 'Buddy Bubbles' - boost your uni and career readiness.

Deadline in 62 days

Step Into Law is A&O Shearman's interactive and inclusive programme for Year 13 students curious about a career in commercial law. The scheme combines skills workshops, commercial awareness sessions, and structured mentorship through small peer groups called 'Buddy Bubbles'.

Participants receive hands-on application support, interview and assessment preparation, and a participant handbook with practical resources.

The programme is built around three in-person Touch Points (Setting Your Scene; Building Your Foundations; Stepping Into Law) followed by a virtual recruiter drop-in to support next steps. Activities include case-based workshops led by associates, panels with trainees, application clinics offering individual feedback, and sessions on responsible use of AI in the workplace.

The virtual follow-up is a 60-90 minute session introducing the firm's First Year Programme and signposting further resources.

Applicants should have strong academic attainment (predicted AAB at A-level and 7 GCSEs grade 6+ including Maths and English). The programme aims to build commercial awareness, confidence with early applications and assessments, and professional networks within the firm.
