Curious how hospital skills feel in real life? Join STEP inTO OxMed’s one-day Clinical Skills Workshop to practise CPR, phlebotomy on mannequins and clinical problem-solving at Oxford’s Clinical Skills Lab. Build hands-on skills, boost your med application and connect with like-minded students.

STEP inTO OxMed runs a one-day Clinical Skills Workshop usually hosted at the Clinical Skills Laboratory at the John Radcliffe Hospital or within Oxford colleges (e. g. , Trinity College).

The workshop is designed to give practical clinical skills experience to approximately 20 local Year 12 students who are interested in medicine or biomedical science.

Activities include Basic Life Support and CPR, phlebotomy practice using mannequins, clinical problem solving (medical and surgical cases), performing sterile procedures, and auscultation (listening to the heart). The session also offers advice on university life and medical school applications to help demystify the application process and guide students on next steps.

The programme aims to stimulate interest in different areas of medicine and medical sciences, provide a friendly and supportive environment for prospective students to ask questions, and reassure applicants that Oxford Medical School welcomes students from all backgrounds. The workshop is free to attend and places are limited, so it is targeted specifically at Year 12 students from the local area.
