Apply NowWant to turn history into hands-on skills? Join Study Mind’s small-group summer programme to analyse original sources, visit archives and the British Museum, build exhibition pieces and sharpen your argument and research skills-boosting your uni application and subject confidence.
Study Mind's History Work Experience Programme is an immersive, small-group (10-12 students) in-person summer enrichment aimed at students preparing to study history at university. The programme offers practical workshops on source analysis, archival research, museum curation, and archaeological field techniques, together with sessions on storytelling and how to present historical arguments.
Participants engage with original documents, visit archives and the British Museum, and design mini-exhibitions to develop research and communication skills.
Students can choose 1-, 2- or 3-week packages that combine academic skills with career-focused sessions such as UCAS application support, personal statement coaching, financial literacy, and networking with historians and curators. Residential options are available (students stay in single-occupancy rooms at Ramsay Hall, UCL, for those who opt in).
The course is designed to strengthen university applications and give practical insight into heritage, museum, and research careers.
A certificate is awarded on completion to include in UCAS or CVs. Study Mind runs a widening participation bursary scheme (full, 75% and 50% places) for disadvantaged students; bursary applicants must provide evidence (Universal Credit / Free School Meals / Pupil Premium), an essay and a teacher reference.
The programme is delivered in central London and is open to international students who meet the English language requirement.
