Study Mind's Physics Work Experience is an in-person immersive programme in Central London designed to give school students practical exposure to physics topics and research environments. Participants take part in hands-on workshops covering astrophysics, geophysics, medical imaging and dark matter detection, visit leading labs and the Science Museum, and attend industry visits to experience engineering and research workplaces.

Choose from 1-, 2- or 3-week packages that include small-group teaching (maximum 10-12 students), coding and data sessions (e. g. , Python), UCAS application and career support, and optional industry placements or a dedicated Career & Life Skills week.

Residential accommodation is available for the residential option at Ramsay Hall (UCL) with single-occupancy rooms and shared facilities.

The programme is aimed at Year 10-13 students (ages 15-18) and provides a certificate on completion to support university applications. Study Mind runs a widening-participation bursary scheme (full, 75%, 50%) with a separate application process and supporting evidence requirements.

  • You are a student in Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 or Year 13 (ages 15-18)
  • Have a genuine passion for Physics
  • Obtain consent to attend from a parent/carer
  • Be able to attend one of the weeks advertised
  • Good level of English (understanding and speaking) to fully participate
  • Bursary-specific criteria (for discounted or free places): provide proof of receipt of Universal Credit, Free School Meals or Pupil Premium; complete an essay task; provide a teacher reference (head of sixth form or relevant subject teacher).
Participation Fee

£1,799

Three package options: 1 week - £1799 (Rising Talent); 2 weeks - £2999 (Career Explorer); 3 weeks - £3999 (Future Leader). Prices include workshops (geophysics, astrophysics, medical imagery), industry visits, UCAS application & careers support. Bursaries available (full, 75%, 50%) via separate application form.
