Join AUTOFOTO co-directors Rafael Hortala Vallvé and Corinne Quin at The Photographers' Gallery to explore the photobooth’s mechanical and cultural history, view contemporary artist collaborations, and spark ideas for your creative practice.
Join Rafael Hortala Vallvé and Corinne Quin, co-directors of AUTOFOTO, for a talk exploring the mechanical and cultural history of the photobooth. The event traces the photobooth’s evolution from a common feature at fairs, shopping centres and train stations to a site of intimacy, chance and artistic experimentation and draws on research into the history of automated portraiture.
The speakers will reflect on recent collaborations with contemporary artists that reimagine the photostrip and consider how the photobooth continues to invite play, performance and the re-staging of the self in an increasingly digital world. This talk coincides with the AUTOFOTO presentation at The Photographers’ Gallery and the Strike a Pose!
100 Years of the Photobooth programme. Details on how to access the event will be confirmed upon registration; please check junk/spam folders for confirmation emails.
