Want to make a real difference in Tanzania? Join a hands-on childcare volunteer programme in Arusha - organise activities, support early education, teach basic English and build practical childcare skills, cultural experience and a standout CV boost for uni or future careers.

This in-person childcare volunteering program places international volunteers with local daycare and preschool projects in and around Arusha, Tanzania. Volunteers support day-to-day childcare and early childhood education by organising activities, assisting with basic English lessons, helping with mealtimes and naps, and supporting local staff in centres that serve children who return to family or guardians each day.

Placements include a mix of nursery and preschool settings (examples listed: Sunshine Daycare, Tristan Day Centre, Star Daycare) serving children from around 1 to 10 years old depending on the centre. Typical working days are Monday to Friday with common in-country working hours around 8:30am-1:00pm (with occasional extended hours up to 3pm by request).

Volunteers live in shared volunteer accommodation (Volunteer House) in Arusha and travel to placements by foot or local transport.

The program includes accommodation, breakfast and dinner, an airport pick-up on arrival, in-country orientation and 24-hour support. Return airport transfer is not included in the program fee; the local team can arrange onward transfers.

Volunteers are advised to bring basic teaching/resources to maximise their impact due to limited local resources.
