Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)

This is a self-paced, free online certificate course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) designed for anyone interested in turning English skills into teaching opportunities. The course covers fundamentals of TEFL including applied linguistics, pronunciation, and teaching methodologies, and is intended to prepare learners for teaching English in classrooms or online.

The course includes training on effective lesson planning, classroom management, use of games and activities for language acquisition, and the role of information technology in teaching grammar and vocabulary. Resources and practice exercises are provided to help learners develop pedagogic skills needed to support early language acquisition and to motivate students.

All Alison courses are free to enrol and study; learners must achieve 80% or higher in each course assessment to become an Alison Graduate. An official Alison digital or physical certificate (CPD accredited) is available to purchase after completion.

The course notes that some countries may require a degree for certain TEFL jobs, but the certificate can help with employment and travel opportunities teaching English abroad or online.
