This five-day short course introduces students to the world of textiles through hands-on making and exploratory mark-making. Participants will learn how designers gather research and develop ideas, and will be introduced to a range of textile techniques including hand knitting, crochet, off-loom weaving, stitching, macramé, collage, painting and drawing.
Through fun practical exercises and one-to-one tutor support, students experiment with materials and processes to develop their ideas and creative confidence. The course is designed to give young learners an insight into studying textiles at university level and to help strengthen their art portfolios.
Learners will receive guidance from experienced tutors at Central Saint Martins and will earn a digital badge and a certificate of attendance on completion. A list of suggested materials is provided on the course page; parents/guardians are asked to flag any additional learning requirements or allergies at booking.
