Explore the American Museum & Gardens’ collections through exclusive access, then use their stories to create an original play.
This Creative Writing workshop series gives young people aged 14 to 18 the chance to explore how a play is written and developed. Led by industry professionals, participants take part in dynamic sessions that bring stories, history and creativity to life, with a strong focus on developing their own ideas and voice as writers.
The course includes exclusive curatorial access to the American Museum & Gardens, offering an inspiring setting to explore the museum’s collections and the stories behind them. Using that environment as a starting point, participants create an original play inspired by the venue and its exhibits, building skills in imaginative writing, character, structure and dramatic storytelling.
Across the term, the group works towards an end-of-term celebratory sharing of the material developed during the programme. There is also the opportunity to submit the finished play to the Royal Court Theatre’s Young Playwrights Awards.
Wonderfund bursary places are available, helping more young people take part in this creative experience.
