Work across theatre departments in a live venue and help deliver the Doorstep Theatre Festival, with the Creative Learning team mentoring you throughout. You’ll also get an induction and a CV-writing and interview skills workshop.

Theatre Royal’s work experience programme gives young people an insight into careers in the arts. Participants spend time in a live theatre environment, working across different departments and learning how a theatre and charity operate day to day.

The placement is designed for school and college students who want practical experience of the creative industries.

Students are mentored by the Creative Learning team throughout the placement and get involved in a range of activities, from supporting the theatre’s wider work to helping deliver the Doorstep Theatre Festival. The experience also includes an induction, IT and phone enquiries training where needed, plus a CV writing and interview skills workshop.

The programme is offered over two weeks in June, with up to three students in each cohort. It is aimed at motivated young people who are curious, professional and interested in pursuing a career in the arts, particularly those living within travelling distance of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.
