Ready to launch your finance career? Join Westcotts as a Trainee Accounting Technician - earn while you learn AAT Level 3-4, get hands-on mentoring, industry experience and a clear route to Chartered roles. Apply for September 2026 in Devon & Somerset.

Westcotts Chartered Accountants & Business Advisers are recruiting Trainee Accounting Technicians to join their Devon and Somerset offices on a permanent basis, starting in September 2026. Roles are available in Axminster, Barnstaple, Bridgwater, Plymouth and Weston-super-Mare.

The posts combine practical work with formal training as part of an apprenticeship agreement.

You will study for Level 3 and Level 4 AAT apprenticeship qualifications while receiving on-the-job training and mentoring. The employer funds the training and pays your normal salary on days you attend classes or spend time studying in the office.

Around 80% of the role is practical work experience: preparing financial information, reports and returns, bookkeeping, VAT returns, personal and company tax computations, and using accounting software to record transactions and support client reporting.

The role is 36.25 hours per week and includes a range of employee benefits such as regular salary reviews, pension, private medical insurance options, and paid annual leave. Opportunities to progress and gain further qualifications are available for successful candidates.
