This two-year Trainee Project Manager technical apprenticeship with SSE (SSEN Transmission) is a structured, hands-on development programme for those looking to start a career delivering large capital projects across the north of Scotland. You will work alongside multi-skilled teams on substation, overhead line and cable projects, contributing to planning, execution and monitoring to deliver projects to time, cost and quality requirements.
The programme supports you to achieve a Level 8 Project Management qualification while applying learning in the workplace.
The role is based on Lewis (Stornoway) with travel to project sites expected; applicants must hold (or be learning to obtain) a UK driving licence and be comfortable working away from home. This is a permanent, full-time role starting August 2026.
The programme offers a starting salary of circa £24,580 per annum with a range of flexible benefits (health discounts, wellbeing services, interest-free loans, family entitlements) and a typical finishing salary of circa £33,000 per annum when the trainee programme is completed.
