The Travers Smith Solicitor Apprenticeship is a six-year, work-based route to qualifying as a solicitor. Apprentices are employed in the firm’s London office and rotate through up to eight core legal departments across the programme, combining on-the-job training with one day a week of study.
Successful apprentices are awarded an LLB (Hons) and complete the SQE; Travers Smith covers tuition and assessment fees with BPP Law School as the provider.
The programme includes structured academic support from BPP (skills coaches and tutor-led teaching), workplace supervision and a buddy system, plus HR support for pastoral and development needs. Apprentices typically spend four days each week on the job and one study day; rotations occur annually in years 1-4 and every six months in years 5-6.
Salary is £27,000 with a £3,000 one-off support payment prior to joining.
The application process comprises an online application, the Legal High Potential Assessment (numerical/verbal plus short video interview) and a final in-person Solicitor Apprentice Recruitment Day in London. Reasonable travel expenses for attendees at Recruitment Day are reimbursed; virtual attendance is only considered in exceptional circumstances.
