Turner’s House offers a structured five-day (Mon-Fri) work experience placement for students at the end of Year 11, 12 or 13 who are interested in history, art and heritage. Placement students learn about the day-to-day running of a small historic house and museum, including front-of-house operations, retail and visitor engagement, the planning of the public programme, and the behind-the-scenes care of the house and collection.
During the placement students will shadow staff across learning, volunteer coordination and operations, gain practical experience of visitor engagement and event delivery, and see how exhibitions, workshops and school visits are organised. Placements take place at Sandycombe Lodge, 40 Sandycoombe Rd, Twickenham TW1 2LR and are delivered in person.
If you are interested in a placement, fill in the Turner’s House student Application Form (available from the website) and send it to learning@turnershouse. org. Please note Turner’s House requires a minimum of one month’s notice to organise a placement and may not be able to accommodate all requested date ranges.
