The UAL International Summer School for 11 to 15 year olds is a fun, intensive two-week on-campus programme run by University of the Arts London. Designed to improve skills and techniques through creativity, experimentation and collaboration, the course offers students a chance to build a portfolio, experience art college life and meet like-minded peers.
Activities include research and idea generation, drawing (scale, texture and colour), sketching, mark-making, design, and 2D and 3D collage and modelling.
Structured similarly to a foundation course in art and design, students are supported to develop new skills and progress existing techniques through project-based learning and tutor feedback. The course awards a digital badge and a certificate of attendance on completion.
All materials required to complete the course are provided; participants are encouraged to bring a camera or camera phone to record their process and outcomes.
The programme is led by experienced tutors (course tutor: Joey Bloss) and runs in July and August 2026. It is suitable for young people aged 11-15 with an interest in art and design, including those preparing for GCSE or IB study.
