? Ready to design the future at UCL? Join the two-week Engineering Summer School to explore design, build prototypes, master core engineering skills and present your own project-connect with academics, boost your uni application and experience lab-based learning on campus.

UCL Engineering Summer School 2026: Design & Innovation is a two-week, in-person academic programme for students aged 15 6-8 based at the University College London campus. The course introduces core engineering principles across design, structural mechanics, electrical/electronic systems and materials science through lectures, small-group seminars, interactive labs and hands-on design challenges.

Students complete a guided independent project which they research, prototype and present.

Classes are small (average class size 7) and total academic hours are 30. The programme is delivered by experienced academic tutors supported by undergraduate mentors who provide academic guidance and pastoral care.

Beyond formal lessons, the summer school includes cultural excursions around London, evening social events and opportunities to work in teams with peers from around the world.

Accommodation is available in supervised university residences (single or twin rooms with shared bathrooms, Wi-Fi, lounge spaces and meals). A shared London Heathrow transfer service is offered with specified arrival and departure times.

Day option: £5,995 for the two-week course. Boarding option: £7,495 for the two-week course (includes university accommodation, meals and round-the-clock pastoral support).
