The UCL Medicine Summer School (Explore Medicine) is an intensive two-week, in-person programme held on the University College London campus designed for students aged 15-18. Participants explore core areas of medical science - including human anatomy, genetics, neuroscience and molecular biology - through lectures, laboratory-style workshops and guided projects.
The course totals approximately 30 academic hours with small class sizes (average 7 students), giving close interaction with tutors and practical, hands-on learning. Students complete a Personal Project and receive a detailed evaluation report at the end of the programme to support future university applications.
The programme combines academic discovery with mentorship from undergraduate role models, problem-solving activities, data analysis and exposure to current research methods used in medicine. Beyond classes, the course includes supervised university accommodation with full board, a cultural and social programme featuring excursions and evening activities, and an organised Heathrow shared transfer service for arrivals and departures.
Support staff are available around the clock to ensure student safety and wellbeing throughout the stay.
