The UCLA Surfing Skills Summer Program is a three-week summer course for high-school-aged students hosted at the University of California, Los Angeles and run via Best Parents' Summer Institute. Participants receive daily supervised surf instruction at nearby beaches focusing on fundamental techniques (paddling, popping up, board positioning), wave selection, timing, and ocean safety.
The programme offers both residential (boarding) and commuter (day) options. Mornings concentrate on drills and balance exercises to build core surf skills, while afternoon sessions focus on applying decision-making and wave-reading in real ocean conditions.
The programme includes structured campus life, supervised activities, and 24/7 pastoral care for residential students. Students receive a Course Completion Certificate and a Letter of Recognition upon finishing the programme.
Sessions run on specific dates (see dates/intakes). International students receive visa support and an international registration fee that covers medical insurance and airport transfers; shuttle transport to/from campus is available for an additional charge.
Students must bring their own wetsuit and complete the Summer Institute application to enrol.
