Kickstart an engineering career with Unilever's apprenticeships - earn while you learn on real manufacturing roles (mechatronics, packaging, food & drink, prototype engineering) and study for industry-recognised qualifications at sites across the UK.

Unilever's Engineering & Manufacturing apprenticeship programmes offer a range of hands-on, workplace-based training routes across manufacturing, mechatronics, food & drink operations, prototype engineering and packaging design. Apprentices combine on-the-job experience at Unilever sites (examples: Port Sunlight, Colworth/Colworth Science Park, Gloucester, Leeds, Burton) with off-job technical and academic training delivered in partnership with providers such as the University of Sheffield AMRC.

Programmes lead to industry-recognised qualifications (Level 2/Level 3 diplomas or a Level 6 BEng for degree apprenticeships) and cover practical activities including fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, PLCs, hydraulics/pneumatics, CAD/CAM, prototyping and manufacturing process operation. Entry requirements vary by programme (GCSEs for Level 3; A-Levels or equivalent for Level 6) and applicants must pass provider and employer selection stages.

Some roles require residential training blocks and periodic attendance at university training centres, and shift patterns (including 12-hour day/night shifts) may apply depending on site and role.

Qualification Outcome

Examples include: Level 2 Diploma Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering (Foundation Competence); Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence & Knowledge); Level 3 / Level 3 Food & Drink Technical Apprenticeship Certificate; Level 6 Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Manufacturing Technology (degree apprenticeship).
