The University of Birmingham’s Benjamin Zephaniah Community Lecture is an annual public event organised by the University’s Race Equality Network to celebrate Benjamin Zephaniah’s life and work. This edition features journalist, broadcaster, former barrister and author Afua Hirsch in conversation, alongside spoken word performances from Birmingham’s former Poet Laureates.

The evening includes a Q&A and takes place in person at the Bramall Music Building on the University of Birmingham campus. It is a community-focused lecture with a strong emphasis on race, identity and social justice, and it brings together discussion, performance and audience participation in one accessible event.

Attendees can also make use of campus parking arrangements and the building’s accessibility information.
