The UCL Aspire Award is a targeted undergraduate scholarship aimed at reducing financial barriers and creating opportunities for students from Black or mixed Black ethnic backgrounds who are underrepresented in UCLs Computer Science department. The award covers full tuition fees and provides an annual living and study allowance of £20,000 for the normal duration of the selected programme, together with ongoing academic and career support.
Eligible courses include Computer Science BSc, Computer Science MEng, Mathematical Computation MEng, and Robotics & Artificial Intelligence MEng. Applicants must be based in the UK with home fee status (or be a forced migrant), must not have previously completed undergraduate study, and must have accepted an offer to start one of the listed programmes for the 2026 intake.
Additional eligibility is determined by meeting at least one of the listed widening-participation criteria such as household income below £42,875, eligibility for free school meals, disability, care leaver status, attendance at a low-performing school, or living in a disadvantaged neighbourhood. Deadline: applications/nomination materials related to the 2026 intake are indicated as closing in September 2026.
