Explore why some nations remain trapped in poverty in a live, interactive webinar with a development economics associate professor. Compare life chances and incomes across countries, question whether global inequality is growing, and discuss a short quiz together on Zoom.
This live, interactive webinar explores development economics with Dr Paul Clist, Associate Professor in Development Economics at the University of East Anglia. The session focuses on the question of why some nations are trapped in poverty, using real-world comparisons to show how life chances, income and development can vary dramatically between countries.
Students will consider where these inequalities come from, whether they are fixed, and whether global inequality is growing. The session also looks at the nature of less-developed countries, the barriers that hold back growth and development, and the policy choices available to governments around the world.
Participants are expected to complete a short quiz before the event, which will be discussed during the webinar. It is designed for students attending from school, college or home, with opportunities to ask questions and interact live via Zoom.
