The Essex Preparation Programme is an online short course designed to help prospective undergraduate students prepare for study at the University of Essex. It is aimed at students who have received an offer of study and plan to enrol, with content focused on helping them feel ready for university life and learning.
The course is divided into a series of topics covering key academic and practical skills. These include independent learning, speaking and discussion, critical thinking, reading academic texts, academic integrity, and university-level writing.
It also introduces students to aspects of Essex student life, such as the Students' Union, clubs and societies, and sustainability. Learners work through the course online at their own pace, with new content released weekly.
The programme also includes live online workshops that support each stage of progress and give students the chance to take part in webinars, ask questions, and build confidence before starting university.
