The Exeter Scholars programme from the University of Exeter is an outreach programme for students in Years 10 to 13 that provides insight into university life and a subject-specific experience. Pathways are tailored by year group and location, and may include on-campus residentials, subject strands taught by academics, field trips and access to university facilities.
Participants who complete the required activities can graduate as a University of Exeter Scholar and may later qualify as a Senior Scholar via an online assessment. Year 12 pathways include a 10-month On-Campus programme and a Virtual Pathway offered as a two-week virtual activities fortnight in February.
Applications for Year 12 On-Campus and Virtual pathways open on Monday 15th September (see programme pages for the current year). Residentials include accommodation in university halls for those attending and are a compulsory element for some Year 12 strands.
The programme offers travel reimbursement for costs incurred while completing the pathway and funds travel to certain University events for successful graduates. There are both South West-specific and nationwide pathways: South West pathways serve young people living in Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Bristol and Dorset, while nationwide pathways serve participants from other areas.
Full entry requirements, pass criteria and details of supplementary activities vary by strand and are provided on the relevant application pages.
