University of Glasgow Glasgow's Art Scene: Galleries and Archives

This short course introduces participants to Glasgow’s contemporary art scene through a series of guided site visits across the city. Rather than classroom-based teaching, the course is delivered on location, giving students the chance to explore galleries, archives, collections, and workshops firsthand and to see how creative institutions operate behind the scenes.

The programme includes visits to venues such as the Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Sculpture Studios, and the Alastair Grey archive, with representatives from the host venues helping to introduce each site. Along the way, the course places Glasgow’s art scene in a broader social and artistic context, making it especially appealing to anyone interested in contemporary art, Scottish art, or creative spaces in Glasgow.
