Curious how geography shapes the future? Explore uni-level teaching and practical sessions at Gloucestershire’s Geography Taster Days - build your own programme, try GIS and climate workshops, boost skills and see how geography strengthens your uni/course applications.

The University of Gloucestershire Geography Taster Days offer school students the opportunity to experience university-level geography teaching and practical sessions on campus. Attendees can build a bespoke taster day by selecting from a menu of workshops and activities designed to showcase different aspects of geography and environmental science.

Typical sessions include topic-focused workshops such as "Solving Climate Change? ", "Integrating GIS into your Geography NEA", "Literature searching for your Geography NEA", "Ice Cores, Volcanics & Mud: the Science of Climate Change", "Responses to Refugee Challenges" and "Crisis Gaming".

Most sessions last 60-90 minutes and can be mixed and matched to create a full day of activities.

The event on 31 July 2026 runs 10:00-14:30 at the Francis Close Hall Campus in Cheltenham (GL50 4AZ). The webpage notes that taster days are available from 2 September to 31 July in the university calendar and that some sessions are appropriate for younger (pre-16) groups as indicated above.
