Spend one day to a week learning about hospital-based careers and the roles that support patient care. Placements are matched to your interests and study requirements where possible, with opportunities depending on availability and department age restrictions.

University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire offers work experience placements for school, college and university students who want to learn more about careers in the NHS or need time in a relevant department as part of their studies. The placements are designed to give young people an insight into hospital-based careers and the range of roles that support patient care.

Placements usually last from one day to a week, depending on availability, and the Trust will try to match each applicant’s requirements with the opportunities it can offer. Some departments have age restrictions, so the exact placement available may depend on the applicant and the area they hope to join.

Applicants are asked to give at least eight weeks’ notice when requesting a placement. UHCW also has NHS Ambassadors who visit schools to support the national curriculum and attend school and college careers fairs.
