Discover STEM at Leeds is a pre-16 outreach programme from the University of Leeds for students in Years 9 and 10. It is designed to introduce university-level STEM subjects, highlight related careers, and show how research connects to real-world applications.
The programme has two parts: an in-school workshop and a campus visit. During the workshop window, students will learn about STEM courses and the benefits of studying at university. On campus, they will take part in practical activities in specialist STEM laboratories, tour a department, and meet undergraduate students studying STEM subjects.
Schools can choose from three campus day themes across the year: medicine, materials science, and a special International Women’s Day session focused on women in STEM. All students are welcome, with female and nonbinary students prioritised for the March event.
Each participating group will receive a certificate of achievement, and all resources and materials for the campus events will be provided.
