Hear Professor Alex Mullen explore women’s communication in Roman Britain through writing tablets and material remains. Attend the accessible public talk in person or online via Teams; it’s followed by a drinks reception.
Join Professor Alex Mullen of the University of Nottingham for the 26th annual Dorothy and Alan Buchan Lecture, which explores the lives and voices of women in Roman Britain. The talk focuses on evidence from writing tablets and other material remains to show how women communicated with one another and with the wider world.
The lecture is designed as an accessible public talk and is followed by a drinks reception. It offers an opportunity to hear current research presented by a specialist in the field of Roman history and ancient writing.
Attendance is free, but advance booking is recommended so organisers can plan for seating and the reception. The event can be attended in person at the University of Leicester or online via Teams, making it suitable for those who cannot travel to the venue.
