Fly the Bibby Flight Simulator around a helicopter test course, then tackle aerospace challenges using CAD and computing facilities. Explore aircraft design, aerodynamics and flight systems with engineers, test pilots and researchers, and meet current undergraduates.
This Insight into University course at the University of Liverpool is built around the multi-disciplinary theme of aerospace engineering and is led by the Flight Science Group. Students explore how aerospace research connects with real-world industry projects, including work on aircraft design, aerodynamics and flight systems.
Participants can expect practical, hands-on activities such as team problem-solving around aerospace challenges, using CAD and other computing facilities, and flying the Bibby Flight Simulator around a helicopter test course. The course also includes opportunities to meet current undergraduates, engineers, test pilots and researchers, alongside time to explore Liverpool’s student facilities.
It is designed for students with a strong maths background and an interest in topics such as airframe structures, avionics, flight technologies, aerodynamics, and aerospace and aeronautical engineering. The course is a mixed residential programme for 40 students and offers a focused introduction to the technical side of flight and the collaboration between pilots and engineers.
11 July 2027 – 15 July 2027
£595 for the residential course. Bursaries are available; applicants should check the bursary criteria and availability.
