Explore speech and language therapy, nursing, orthoptics and pharmacy through subject tasters, then spend three days at a residential summer school. Meet Sheffield undergraduates and academic staff, and get Year 13 support with UCAS applications, personal statements and interview practice.

Prize: Contextual offer from the University of Sheffield for students who successfully complete the programme and meet the conditions; Access to Sheffield Scholarship worth £3,600 for eligible students who go on to study at Sheffield.

Access to Sheffield (Health Professions) is a widening access programme for students interested in speech and language therapy, nursing, orthoptics or pharmacy. It is designed for Year 12 and Year 13 students who want to explore health-related study routes, build confidence, and strengthen future university applications.

Over the programme, students take part in a welcome event, an introductory day, subject taster sessions across the four health professions, and a three-day residential summer school. They also spend time with current undergraduate students and academic staff to learn more about university life, the skills needed for these degrees, and the different career pathways available in healthcare.

In Year 13, the programme continues with support for UCAS applications, personal statements, mock interviews and interview practice. Students who successfully complete both phases may also become eligible for a contextual offer, and those who go on to study at Sheffield may be considered for an Access to Sheffield Scholarship if they meet the wider criteria.
