Prepare a patient for a procedure in a full-day Nursing taster on campus, led by current academic staff and students. Explore how university teaching works and ask questions about studying the subject.
The University of Sheffield’s on-campus subject tasters give students the chance to find out what it is like to study at the university through a full day of subject-specific activity. Sessions are delivered by current academic staff and students, and are designed to help applicants explore a subject in more depth before making decisions about university study.
The current listing includes a Nursing taster, with the themed activity “Preparing a patient for a procedure” based on campus. The wider programme is aimed at students who are considering higher education and want to experience a university subject in a realistic setting, with opportunities to ask questions and see how teaching and learning work at Sheffield.
Applications are open to Year 12, Year 13 and Level 3 students, as well as mature students returning to education. Places are allocated on merit, so applicants are asked to complete an online form and provide a short statement explaining why they want to attend.
Successful applicants are contacted before the event with further details, and some departments may provide lunch or ask students to bring their own.
